CATALOG 2006-5: MAY
37TH MUFON UFO SYMPOSIUM: Marriott Denver tech Center, Denver, Colorado. Details on Catalog Cover—for further information, go to MUFON.com. Arcturus Books will be there with the latest in UFO books (and will bring rare out-of-print titles if customers request in advance). Last year's Symposium was a great experience all around, in a great venue, so make your plans for this year's enjoyable experience NOW.
CATALOG 2006-5: There has been so little in the way of newly published books of interest to ufologists and Forteans in the last 2 months that this catalog is of necessity different from most. You are at a great disadvantage for not having a computer. Like it or not, and given my chronic financial problems, the computer has become essential in keeping Arcturus alive. This catalog contains whatever new items we have been able to find (not many—UFO-related publishing has just about stopped completely), plus a listing of books remaining from a large collection which—out of necessity—was already offered to computerized customers.
MAY 2006 NEW TITLES:
A. Baldwin, William. CE-VI: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE POSSESSON KIND. Headline Bks, 2002. Trade soft, 2nd prtg, 126pp. This is an infomercial for "Spirit Releasement Therapy," and not a legitimate UFO book—for who is to say that it is the aliens who are "possessing" human psyches, when the truth may well be that some—if not many—UFO abductees and contactees are in and of themselves mis-wired or defective enough through drug use or other trauma to cause symptoms of some kind of alien takeover of their personalities?? Be afraid, be VERY afraid, of this kind of therapy without knowing much more about it! $12.95
B. Birnes, William A., et al, eds. THE UFO MAGAZINE UFO ENCYCLOPEDIA. Pocket Bks, 2004. Trade soft, 363p, surface-skimming compilation of current UFO scene. Bargain—reduced to $10
C. Burgos Stone, Hector. AMERIKA: TIMELESS WORLD. Lulu, 2006. Trade soft, 241pp. Archaeology has been extremely slow—as in centuries—recognizing that the Americas may yet turn out to have been the birthplace of humanity and source of the peopling of the Earth. In 1945, Arthur Posnansky published his monumental work (Tiahuanaco: Cradle of American Man), which sent shock waves of disbelief and outrage through the bastions of orthodox Archaeology with his calculations dating Tiahuanaco to something like 15,000 B.C. But this now turns out to have been a tremendous under-estimate, for it is slowly dawning on Archaeology that all of its orthodox theories concerning the origin of the Indians and the timeline for the inhabiting of the Americas is completely wrong, and must be pushed back in time to ages routinely believed to be simply impossible. Why is this? Because, when the fools found a site indicating truly ancient origins, they just didn't dig deeply enough!! They simply stopped whenever they reached levels which corroborated their already erroneous theories about American civilization! Anyway, here is a book which takes numerous potshots at modern Archaeology (which fully deserves to be shot through for its stupidity and prejudicial approach to the Americas). Part 1 reveals Amerika as the "Motherland of Mankind." Part 2 shows how Amerika was the site of many of the events and the divinities from classical mythology, linking mythology to the Americas through comparative linguistics. And Part 3 consists of many charts which compare ancient languages with "Runa Simi," the proto-language developed in the Americas, and offers evidence that this was in fact the original language of all mankind. Disarmingly simple in the statement of its concepts, and offering a bibliography which will challenge the book-hunting skills of those who wish to dig more deeply into this study than university archaeologists dig into the ground, this is a book well worth having, and well worth allowing to seep into your brains—which sorely need to have tossed out all of the clutter of erroneous thinking about the Americas dumped into them by modern Archaeology. $20.95
D. Coghlan, Ronan. THE ROBIN HOOD COMPANION. Xiphos Books, 2003. Trade soft, 207pp. "A Complete Guide to the Legend and Literature" of the famous outlaw. It includes Coghlan's modernized rendering of the various ballads and poems which exist, creating in the process "the closest thing we have to a Robin Hood epic." There is also an extensive listing of the characters to be found in Robin Hood literature, and references to modern film treatment of the legend. Charming and full of great fun, $14.95
E. _____. CRYPTOSUP: A SUPPLEMENT TO 'A DICTIONARY OF CRYPTOZOOLOGY.' Xiphos Bks, 2005. Lg. format softboud, 60pp, an update to the author's already marvelous collection of data about cryptozoological studies. $14.95
F. Coleman, Loren, and Huyghe, Patrick. THE FIELD GUIDE TO BIGFOOT AND OTHER MYSTERY PRIMATES. Anomalist Bks, 2006. Trade softbound, 205pp. Illus. by Harry Trumbore. Reprint of 1999 original. Missed it in 1999?? Grab it in 2006! $14.00
G. del Maestro, M. I. MIRACLES AND MYSTERIES OF THE BIBLE: A RETELLING OF THE FLORIOUS MYSTERIES AND MIRACLES FROM BOTH THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS. Castle, 2005. HC, 172p. Modern renderings of the Loaves & Fishes, Walking on Water, Moses in the Reeds, Moses and the burning bush, the Centurion's servant, and others. Bargain at $8.95
H. Harwood, Jeremy. THE SECRET HISTORY OF FREEMASONRY. Lorenz, 2006. Lg. HC, 96pp. Great color illus. Ever wanted to peek through the keyhole while a Masonic ceremony was taking place?? They're probably not dumb enough to leave keyholes uncovered, so you'll have to fall back on this interesting book, drawn from centuries of commentary about Masonic ritual and secrecy. The illustrations are far above the usual in terms of informative value. $17.95
I. Hopkins, Budd. SIGHT UNSEEN: SCIENCE, UFO INVISIBILITY AND TRANSGENIC BEINGS. Atria, 2003, HC, lots of topics in here which defy our laws of reality & physics. Reduced to 14.95
J. Michell, John, and Rickard, Bob. UNEXPLAINED PHENOMENA: A ROUGH GUIDE SPECIAL. Rough guides, bibliographical data not known. Softcover, 390pp. This may be an omnibus edition of Michell / Rickard books such as Photographs of the Unknown, Living Wonders, Phenomena, etc. No matter what, it's cheap enough, at $19.95
K. Palmer, Susan J. ALIENS ADORED: RAEL'S UFO RELIGION. Rutgers Univ. Pr., 2004. Trade soft, 226pp. It's been happening since the days of Jesus (actually, long before Jesus), and it still happens today. Some guy with a strange center of gravity which naturally radiates some kind of hypnotic influence on others (more women than men, with the men likely suffering from sexual confusion or being predators who attach themselves not to the charismatic, but to the women who are attached to him), creates his own egocentric human society-within-a-society, often on the basis of his bond with higher entities of some kind. Jim Jones, David Koresh (the Waco Wacko), Bo & Peep—all these are examples of the type. Ex-race car driver Claude Vorilhon has a particularly active hive around him. It is here investigated (sociologically speaking) by Susan Palmer, who seems to have enjoyed a lot of freedom to observe and to communicate with cult members, and her book is as good a job of reportage on UFO cults as there is. $19.95
L. Pilkington, Rosemarie. THE SPIRIT OF DR. BINDELOF: THE ENIGMA OF SÉANCE PHENOMENA. Anomalist Bks, 2006. Trade soft, 241pp. This is the story of Gilbert and Larry. They were 2 teens in the early 1930s who formed part of an experimental séance group. The group became known as "The Bindelof Society," named for the departed spirit with whom they established contact. Now, whereas someone of the qualities of Claude "Rael" Vorhilon might be suspected of not being on the up-and-up, thereby casting a like suspicion on all who claim contact with higher beings or departed spirits, the boys who carefully recorded the supernatural events resulting from their contact with Dr. Bindelof are, as this book shows, undeserving of any suspicion either of fraud or of ulterior motive. Their records speak for themselves, and the phenomena they experienced were real—leading to yet another urging to all of us that we consider such happenings as both genuine and as enlightening. We are in enough of a mess as it is, here in 2006. If we can only learn to reach out to the infinite, and to allow the infinte to reach out to us…….it's really the only chance we've got, you may believe me on that score. $15.95
M. Schoch, Robert, and McNally, R.A. PYRAMID QUEST: SECRETS OF THE GREAT PYRAMID AND THE DAWN OF CIVILIZATION. Tarcher, 2004. HC, new in dj, reduced to $16.95
N. Stray, Geoff. BEYOND 2012: A COMPLETE GUIDE TO END-OF-TIME PREDICTIONS. Vital Signs, 2005. Lg. softbound, 351pp. Look, we're all very antsy just now. 99% or more don't know WHY they feel that way, and go on about their ordinary sleepwalking lives. But 1% (a guess on my part—it could be a good deal less than 1%) have studied and observed today's humanity—and have suspected the grim truth. That all of what our senses tell us is mere illusion, not only of sight, but of all the known and unknown senses we possess. If this proves correct, then there is nothing whatever to prevent us from realizing that the "End of the World" –an event not expected for billions of years by our "scientists" (for no-one is more enslaved by illusion, or appearances, than scientists)—will be realized within our lifetime (our lifetime also being an illusion). The End is very real, however, and we will have to experience the end of our cycle in all of its horrible impact upon our physical senses. We are going to pay big-time for all of our failures. Such failures start with each of us. We did not study, we did not observe, we did not comprehend "As Above, So Below," we did not bond WITH nature, but fought against it, we did not realize our connection to all life on Earth, or with the planet itself, or with the universe itself, we did not learn from others, nor did we teach others the correct way of thinking and living. We are going to pay BIG-TIME for these and for many other things we did not do, no matter how many lifetimes it took us not to do them or even not to understand them. 1% of us, or less, will get at least partial credit for having understood SOMETHING. The other 99% or more get no credit at all. How do you think YOU stand?? Don't kid yourself. Only a couple of you may qualify as one-per-centers. The rest of you had better get reading and understanding very, very quickly. Without it, you ain't got a snowball's chance. SPECIAL ORDER ITEM, when I get enough orders I will buy the title, $26.95
O. Suckling, Nigel. THE BOOK OF SEA MONSTERS. Overlook, lg. softbound, 112pp. 50 full-page color illustrations. My impression is, "don't look for a lot of in-depth analysis here—just look at the nice pitchers." $24.95
P. Sutherly, Curt. UFO MYSTERIES: A REPORTER SEEKS THE TRUTH. Llewellyn, 2004, trade softbound, 228pp. The reporter also seeks ways to re-package his earlier paperback Strange Encounters. Parts are new, however, and this is now reduced to $9.95
Q. Tellinger, Michael. SLAVE SPECIES OF GOD: THE STORY OF HUMANKIND FROM THE CRADLE OF HUMANKIND. Music Masters, 2006. Trade soft, 562pp. We are slowly beginning to emerge from under the giant Christian monolith which has been crushing our spirit—as individuals and as a species—for 2000 years now. Some of us are already out and others are beginning to crawl out, covered with dirt, hungry for light and genuine food. Some of these escapees are now writing books. And some of these authors are writing in terms which are diametrically opposed to the gigantic suffocating monolith which was the Church. Writers such as Zecharia Sitchin, who has dared to suggest that mankind is nothing but a slave species engineered by a race of extraterrestrials who needed barely cognizant beasts to do their hard-rock mining for them, and Christian O'Brien, who speaks of the "Shining Ones" whose offworld visit here long ago became the basis of mankind's divinities. And we should not leave out Laurence Gardner or Nicholas DeVere, who lead the way in twisting religion and mythology alike into hideous perversions whose devotees ingest menstrual blood and compounds of gold to re-animate their DNA into returning to the levels in which direct communication with the gods is possible. Well, now we have a writer who comes right out and says it: that we are in fact a slave species of god (or, more accurately, the Gods). And then he goes on to pile up 560 pages of evidence to support his theory. Now sometimes, as in the books of Gardner and DeVere, you smell the stink of rat early on. But I'm not really smelling rat in SLAVE SPECIES OF GOD. I've poked around a bit and find that the ideas seem coherently expressed, that the history is at least reasonably well epitomized, and that the author appears qualified to speak at the level of advancement that he does. So why not give it a try?? It can't be worse than that Jesus garbage!! And, if you ever needed anything just now, you need to start thinking like you've never thought before—not even once in your life—about human history and what the human being SHOULD be. $21.95
